The Fifth Annual Williamsburg Live Songwriter Competition (WLSC2008),* a Jezebel Music event, brings together some of the world's top Indie singer-songwriters to play in front of music industry professionals and journalists who are the competition's judges, their peers for mutual recognition, to just celebrate the art of song, and for prizes.

Why Williamsburg, Brooklyn? Because it is an international songwriter Mecca and in our opinion a place drenched in creativity. You can't walk a single block without seeing someone with a guitar slung across his or her back. Singer-songwriters come in all musical genres: alternative, country, folk, jazz, punk, rap, and a combination of all the above and they can all be found in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The 1st Annual WLSSC featured sixty top singer-songwriters and was the first event of its kind in Williamsburg. The 2nd Annual WLSSC expanded to 100 singer-songwriters for five nights, at five venues. The third year was even bigger with 500 entrants with 150 chosen, performing for eight consecutive nights.

Now in it's Fifth year, the WLSC2008 will accept 1000 song submissions. One hundred and fifty contestants will be chosen for the "live" competition, which will occur November 15-22, 2007, at different Williamsburg venues. To enter the WLSC 2008 click here.
